Vera “Toni” Hobart
Age 79, of Penn Yan, passed away May 16, 2024.
Toni was a local sports fan legend, known always to have her orange and blue cowbell in hand. She enjoyed supporting all of the local sports in Penn Yan, and especially loved lacrosse and football. She also coached girls softball. You always knew what season it was by the paint job on the large rock in her front yard.
She worked many years as a seamstress for Micheal Stern Clothing and ran the counter at Surplus Outlet. Toni especially enjoyed getting her friends together and hosting Sunday morning coffee club at her home. She also worked at The Windmill Farm and Craft Market in her later years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Elizabeth (Daggett) Hobart; and brothers and sister, Joe, Buzz, Allen, and Mary Hobart. She was also predeceased by her loving companion, Gary Pinneo.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Alexis Hobart; brother Vincent Hobart; and sisters, Linda McClain, Deborah (Raymond) Crombe, and Sharon Allen. Also, four wonderful grandchildren, Bowen Hobart, Dan Mesler, Rocky Mesler, and Blake Spina.
The family will receive friends at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main St., Penn Yan, on Thursday (May 23) from 1pm-4pm; followed by a memorial service at 4:00pm. She will be interred at Lakeview Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
