Ronnie McNeil

Ronald William McNeil, affectionately known as Ronnie, passed away on November 2, 2024, at the age of 58. He was born during a blizzard on April 8, 1966. Ronnie was a Penn Yan resident who graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1985.

Ronnie was known for his vibrant personality—funny, loving, kind, and big-hearted. An avid animal and music lover, he also expressed his creativity through writing. His patriotic spirit was evident in his everyday life with his numerous tributes to 9/11. Ronnie enjoyed various hobbies, including fishing, music, writing, golfing, and needlepoint, each of which reflected his diverse interests and talents.

He leaves behind a loving family: his father, Ronald Howard McNeil; sisters, Roxann McNeil (Augustine), Carolyn McNeil, and Theresa McNeil; nephews, Bryan Bump and Alan Bump; niece, Nicole Augustine; and many, many great-nieces and great-nephews. Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Russell (McNeil); sister, Penny Thomas; close companion, Charla F.; and brothers-in-law, Stephen Augustine and Gordon Bump.

Calling hours will be held from 1 pm to 2 pm, followed by the funeral service from 2 pm on November 11, 2024, at Weldon Funeral Home, located at 102 East Main Street, Penn Yan, NY 14527. A gathering for visitors will take place at Big Oak Golf Course following the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Yates County Humane Society in memory of Ronnie's love for animals. Ronnie's warmth and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
