Richard D. Eaves

Age 66, of Sioux Falls, SD, and formerly of Penn Yan, NY, passed away after a 3-year long battle with Leukemia on October 14, 2024.

Rich was born on March 19, 1958 in Penn Yan, the son of Lawrence and Erma (Wheeler) Eaves. A graduate of Penn Yan Academy in 1978, Rich pursued his lifelong passion for cooking, which led him to Sioux Falls where he honed his culinary skills and brought joy to many through his craft in the food service industry.

Though he never married, he had many friends. He is survived by six brothers and sisters, Doug (Christy) Eaves of California, Daniel Eaves of California, Mark Eaves of California, Steve Eaves of Florida, Suzanne “Sam” McLoud of Penn Yan, and Cindy Eaves of Canandaigua; and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, and three brothers, Duane, Lawrence Jr., and Robert Eaves. 

The family will receive friends and relatives at the Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main St. in Penn Yan on Tuesday (Nov 12th) from 12pm-1pm; followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm; and burial at Lakeview Cemetery at 2:00pm.
