Ralph “Kim” Beckhorn
Age 66, of Penn Yan, passed away October 9, 2021.
Kim was the much-loved son of Phyllis Benson Beckhorn Mendall and Ralph Marshall Beckhorn. He was born on October 27, 1954 in Penn Yan. Kim graduated from Penn Yan Academy and continued his education at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania, where he earned his degree in Education. He went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Special Education. He was recruited to help start the School Of The Arts in Rochester, NY. There, he used his degree in Special Education as an Inclusion Teacher, where he helped so many gifted students to lead a successful life. He retired in 2010 to pursue his love of Antiques.
Always an entrepreneur, he started selling grapes at home as a child. After college, he worked toward his dream of a prosperous business in buying and selling antiques. His business was called The Fifth Baee.
He is survived by his sister, Pamela Beckhorn Sweeney and her husband, Martin Sweeney, of New Hampshire; nephews, Martin (Jhomar) Sweeney of Boston and Joshua Sweeney of New Hampshire. He is also survived by his life partner, John Laraby and his siblings, Marcia Ebersole, Joanne Joy (Ken), Jill (Mike) Arron, Jackie Kelly (Jose) and Melissa Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Ebersole, Mike (Cindy) Laraby and Kevin Miller.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday (Oct. 31) at The Antique Inn from 12pm-2pm, located at 2940 NY-54A, Penn Yan, NY 14527.
