Paul A. Dykeman, Sr. Age 80, of Penn Yan, NY, passed away Jan. 12, 2021 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. Paul was born May 2, 1942 in Penn Yan to the late Ruth Dykeman. He was a Viet Nam Veteran, serving in the US Army. Paul had various jobs throughout the course of his life. He received two college associate degrees: one in Business and the other in Human Services. He worked at Sylvania in Seneca Falls until they closed and later at Seneca Army Depot as an armed Security Guard until they closed. Afterwards, he moved his family to Scranton, PA and transferred to Tobyhanna Base and served as an armed Security Guard until he retired in in the early 1990’s. Following retirement, he spent his time as an attendant at a gas station. He volunteered time to the Big Brother Program, as well as the Grandparent-Grandchild Program, helping at-risk youth boys. He enjoyed meeting new people and loved to joke around. His most favorite part-time job was working at Chuck E. Cheese. He also enjoyed playing pool. He spent his time reading his bible, listening to music, and watching the ball games. His favorite song was “Why Me Lord”, by Kris Kristofferson. He was predeceased by his mother and niece, Sylvia Wheeler. He is survived by his brother, Richard Dykeman of Palmyra, NY; sister, Joyce Miller of Penn Yan; sons, Gerald Dykeman and Paul Dykeman (Ada) of Penn Yan; daughters, Maria Lewis of Seneca Falls, Tammy Pym of Penn Yan and Karen Dykeman of Scranton, PA; grandchildren; Kimberly, Franklin, Jonathan, Jennifer, Jaushwa, Christopher, Emmanuel; great-grandchildren; Kingston, Sophia, Domanik and Ryder; and nephews: Jamie Dykeman, Charles, Lester, Michael Miller.
