After graduating high school in Penn Yan, Mildred completed a program of study at the Rochester Business Institute. Upon returning to Penn Yan, she worked as a bookkeeper at the Walkerbilt company, and then the Department of Motor Vehicles, married, and shortly after, devoted herself to raising a family and working alongside Marvin in establishing a successful and always growing dairy farm.
She was an active member of the Danish Sisterhood Lodge, and served her community in many ways including fund raising efforts for the American Cancer Society and as a volunteer at the Penn Yan Soldiers and Sailors Hospital, the Keuka Comfort Care Home, and the Milo Center Methodist Church – in which she had served in multiple leadership roles, and until recently, faithfully attended.
Over the years Mildred enjoyed spending time with her growing family the most. She was an avid supporter and sideline fan of her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s many academic, athletic and life achievements; and cherished each and every milestone.
