Lewis P Johnson
Age 89, formerly Ohio, died May 2, 2021 peacefully at Keuka Comfort Care Home in Penn Yan, NY. He was born in 1931 in Gallia County, Ohio, to the late Donald and Alma Johnson. He is survived by Judy, his wife of 68 years, his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Beth Johnson, his daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Ray Queen, and his grandson and wife, Seth and Jocelyn Johnson and two great-grandchildren.
Lew graduated from Alliance High School, Mount Union College, and Kent State University with a master’s degree in education. He began his teaching career in Alliance, became a principal in the Minerva district, was an assistant high school principal in the Perry district, and spent the last 13 years of his career as an elementary principal in the Plain School district. He also spent 2 years in the Army after the Korean War.
After 30 years in Education, Lew retired in 1983 to enjoy his many hobbies. He and Judy traveled to many interesting places in this world. He was also an avid golfer (twice had a hole in one), fisherman, and spent many hours reading and painting.
He and his wife owned The Clockworks in North Canton, Ohio, from 1979 to 1990, with Lew performing the repair and restoration of hundreds of clocks, some of which were valuable antiques.
