Kimiyo Sera Healy, Age 95, of Decatur, TN, passed away on January 10, 2025, at home with her family by her side.
At the family’s request, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Col. & Mrs. Michael J. Healy We Honor Veterans Fund” in care of University of Rochester Medicine Home Care, 756 Pre Emption Rd, Geneva, NY 14456. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery where she will join her husband, Col. Michael J. Healy in Section 12A, Grave 362.
Kimiyo was born on June 20, 1929, in Ube, Japan, the daughter of the late Haru and Yoshi-ichi Sera. Her early years were shaped by the tragic loss of her beloved mother in 1939 and the devastation of World War II. On March 13, 1958, she married Michael J. with whom she shared 61 years of marriage and earned her the honorary title of “St. Kimiyo”.
While raising three children, Kimiyo was the epitome of an Air Force wife and mother. She managed the household with grace and ease as they moved 20 times around the world. She finally retired to Bluff Point, NY in 1991 where she lived for 29 years. She was a member of St. Michael’s Church and a volunteer for Ontario Yates Hospice and Keuka Comfort Care Home. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
Kimiyo was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Michael J. Healy, in 2019, her son, Michael T. Healy in 2023, her sister, Yuki, her brothers, Atsuo and Kunio, and her canine children: Blackie, Yankee, Chibby, Chisai, Buddy, Chokum, Grizzly, Shy, Blondie and most recently Emi in November 2024.
She is survived by her daughters Kimrose Dean (Jon) of Decatur, TN, and Pauline S. Healy (Michael Williams) of Leesburg, VA; grandson, JM Ramsey (Rachel Bechtel) of Orlando, FL, grandson-in-law Jonathon R. Dean (Toni) of Ooltewah, TN; her younger brother, Tadayuki Yamamoto, her younger sister, Fusako Yokoyama both of Japan; special friends of 50+ years, Reiko and Richard Zera and Yuki Dellinger.
The family wishes to acknowledge the kindness and care provided by Hearth Hospice.
