Kimberly Root-Matsko

Age 41, of Rochester, NY, passed away unexpectedly May 21, 2021 from a medical emergency.  

Kimberly is survived by her loving parents, James and Kathleen Root of Penn Yan; her fiancé and biggest supporter, Peter “PJ” Curts of Rochester; and sister Kristen Mathews and nephew Alexander Mathews, both of Penn Yan; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.  

Kim founded RACE (Rochester Area Classic Events) Car Club and was the group administrator, sharing local car club events. She was also a huge supporter and volunteer for many area car events.   Kim’s pride and joy was her 1972 black and pink Mercury Comet.  The pink color represented her battle and survival with Breast Cancer.  She received numerous awards for her classic car. 

Her presence, promotion, enthusiasm and radiant smile will be deeply missed in the car event community.   Kim worked as a System’s Administrator for PayChex in Rochester.

There are no services planned at this time. 

A MEMORIAL FUNDRAISER CARSHOW will be held in her memory on July 25, 2021 at 21 Eisenhauer Dr., Brockport, NY, starting at 12pm, with a “Special Send Off” at 2:45pm.  You may also consider a donation in her memory to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org) or a Cancer Society of your choice.
