Joe R. Searles
Age 82, of Geneva, passed away March 13, 2024.
Joe was a graduate of Dundee High School, Class of 1961. Throughout his career as an Iron Worker for Local Union #33, Joe dedicated himself to the construction of bridges and skyscrapers, leaving a lasting legacy in the buildings he helped create. Particularly noteworthy was his pride in contributing to the construction of the Rochester Convention Center.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Joe found joy in various interests. He had a passion for NASCAR racing and actively participated in Sports Car Club of America events. In his younger life, he excelled in karate competitions, reaching the esteemed rank of Brown Belt.
He was predeceased by his parents; also a brother and sister, Wayne Searles and Patricia Higginbotham.
He is survived by his life partner of 30 years, Cathy Manino and her son David, of Geneva; son Rodney J. Searles of Bemidji, MN; daughter Tammy (Marty) Tones of Hammondsport, and brother Harold Searles of Penn Yan; seven grandchildren, Maisie Searles, Owen Tones, Ethan Tones, Ellie Tones, Caitlin Searles, Lainey Searles, and Lauren Searles; and two great-grandchildren.
