Joan Kathleen Swarts

 Age 69, of Penn Yan, peacefully passed away on November 4, 2023. 

Born on August 19, 1954, Joan was the beloved daughter of Harry and Kathleen (Bowman) Best.  She graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1972 and embarked on a life filled with adventure and passions that defined her spirit.  Among her many joys were traveling, camping, and the exhilaration of riding motorcycles.  Joan had a special affinity for dogs and animals, nurturing a deep love for them throughout her life.  Though she wandered to Mesa, Arizona and later settled in Myrtle Beach, SC, it was always inevitable that she would ultimately return home to Penn Yan where her heart truly belonged. 

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Hill, and infant brother Harry Robert Best Jr.  She is fondly remembered and forever cherished by her brothers and sister: Thomas Best of Penn Yan, Tina Hall of Dundee, and Robert (Susan) Best of Virginia.  Joan's memory also lives on through her loving nieces and nephews: Kathleen "KC" Corbitt (Jeff), Robert Corbitt (Mary), Jennifer Hall, and Matthew Hill (Beth).  Furthermore, she leaves behind four great-nephews and two great-nieces who will carry forth her essence with pride.
