Joan Stever Hayes

Age of 88 of Penn Yan, NY went to be with Our Lord on March 19, 2023.

She was born in the town of Jerusalem in Penn Yan to parents Robert Stever and Gladys Russell Stever. Joan graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1952 and went on to work for the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. She then excelled at a variety of jobs on the different Air Force bases that her husband Dave was assigned to. Joan and Dave lived in Texas for many years and became very involved with their church families there.   After Dave’s death, Joan moved back to Penn Yan to be closer to her brother Ted and the rest of her family.  She then became a member of the Penn Yan Assembly of God church in Penn Yan and served her church in multiple functions.

She is survived by her daughter Anne Appleton and granddaughter Olivia Appleton of Shortsville, cousins Alyson Orr (Todd Habberfield) of Canandaigua, Jeremy Orr and William Dunn of Penn Yan, and Ike Hughes of Syracuse.  She also leaves behind many friends in both her Texas and NY church families.

She was predeceased by her husband Dave Hayes, brother Ted Stever, and cousins Pat Carroll and Linda Dunn.
