James Edward Best, 87, of Penn Yan passed away on Monday (August 27, 2018). Calling hours for Jim will be held on Saturday (September 1) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the funeral service at 1 p.m., at Weldon Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Gorham Cemetery immediately following. Jim was born June 27, 1931 in Dundee, N.Y., the son of the late Kenneth and Myrtle (Margeson) Best. He was a graduate of Dundee Central School. After graduation he worked for Millard Dairy, Dairylea and Penn Yan Express along with various other positions. Upon retiring Jim became a model train enthusiast and enjoyed spending many hours working on his trains. He also enjoyed traveling. He and his wife were 25 year members of the Argon Dance Club. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Norma (Joseph) Filion of Fairport, NY; two grandsons Matthew (Darlene) Filion of Hamburg, N.Y. and Eric Filion of Dayton, Ohio; and one great-granddaughter, Jade Filion.
