Gwendlyn Joyce Barr Hibbard
Age 67, formerly of Penn Yan, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2021 surrounded by loving family.
Gwen was born on Oct 14, 1953 to Richard Barr and Joyce Conley Barr in Penn Yan, NY. She was the second of eight children. She lived most of her life in the Finger Lakes area. Gwen was a sweet, caring and loving person her whole life. As a young person she helped care for her siblings and babysat many other children. In her adult years she worked for 20 years at the VA Hospital in Canandaigua, NY as a nursing assistant and she also fostered developmentally delayed adults in her home. She volunteered in many settings with the Linden Exchange consignment shop being one of her favorites. She was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease at an early age which ravaged her body over time. In spite of this, she courageously lived a life full of fun, family and friends. She had a beautiful soul and will be sorely missed by so many. She is now at peace and no longer in pain.
Gwen is survived by her sons, Matthew (Diana) Hibbard of Temple TX, Lucas (Claire) Healy Hibbard of Milford CT, her granddaughter Lillian Joyce Healy-Hibbard, her ex-husband and good friend Leslie Hibbard of Tucson AZ, her seven siblings, Deborah (Aaron) Barr Stevens of Romulus NY, Sheila (Guy Smith) Heller of Glendale AZ, Phyllis (Barry Disbrow) Romero of Sierra Vista AZ, Teresa (Camilo) Parris of Killeen TX, Pamela Windover of Marlowe OK, Jori (Willie) Erb of Sierra Vista AZ and Kevin (Michele) Barr of Interlaken NY. She is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents.
