Gordon L. Snyder
Age 78 of Penn Yan, NY, passed away December 30, 2021.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main St., Penn Yan on Friday (Jan. 7th) from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A funeral service with firemen’s honors will be held at the funeral home at 11:00am on Saturday, January 8, 2022; followed by burial at Branchport Cemetery.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Snyder; sons Terry (Carol) Tears of Florida, and Dale Pielow of Dundee; sister, Sarah (Earl) Mortensen of Sarasota, FL; brothers-in-law, George Tears of Bath and Bucky Bates of Branchport; three grandchildren, Jessica Gensler, Heather Andrews and Judy Weigel, all of Florida; special daughter and grandkids, Gayline Enos, and Connor and Clarissa Enos; and great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Jake, Kylee, and Julian. He was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Margaret Snyder, and sister Rosanna Bates.
Gordon worked for Mercury Aircraft in Hammondsport for 43 years. He was a member of the Branchport/Keuka Park Fire Department since 1972, dedicating thousands of hours of volunteer service and holding every office in the department.
He was also a member of Northern Central NY Volunteer Firemen's Assoc., and FA SNY (Fireman’s Assoc. of the State of New York), working to train, educate and advocate fire safety. He traveled across the state to share his knowledge and experience with many other firemen volunteers and received many awards for his service.
