Geraldine M. Christensen, 86, of Penn Yan, passed away into the arms of the Lord, October 21, 2021. Friends and family are invited to call on Thursday (Oct. 28) from 2pm to 5 pm at the Weldon Funeral Home, 102 East Main Street, Penn Yan. There will also be calling hours on Friday (Oct. 29) from 10am-11am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Penn Yan followed by a funeral service for immediate family only due to COVID restrictions and seating capacity. Funeral service will be available for viewing through Zoom, please contact St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested in her name for St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 135 Hamilton Street, Penn Yan, NY 14527. Geraldine was born on May 23, 1935 in Marion, NY the daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Barber) Lootens. Geraldine graduated from Marion High School in 1953. She worked at Kodak in her early days, and after her marriage to Charles, she worked on the family farm. She volunteered as a financial secretary for the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for many years. After raising her children, she worked in food service for the Penn Yan Central School District. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Charles (Chas) E. Christensen; her children, Ritchie (Mary Laursen) Lent, Debbie Lent, Douglas (Tina Snyder) Christensen, Diane (Mark) McIntee, Dale (Roxanne) Christensen, Mark (Susan) Christensen, 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard (Sharon) Lootens and Robert (Cindy Dey) Lootens; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Helen (Ed) Dickson, Pauline Carroll, David E. Christensen, Donald (Phyllis) Christensen; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Geraldine was predeceased by her stepmother Nevada Lootens and her sister-in-law Dorothy Lootens.
