Gail R. Sisson
Age 84, of Penn Yan, peacefully departed on May 1, 2024. Born in Penn Yan on June 27, 1939, she was the beloved daughter of Syril and Frances (Bardeen) Habberfield. Despite the challenges posed by cerebral palsy, Gail devoted herself to caring for others as a Health Aid at Lakeview Health Services in Penn Yan.
Gail was preceded in death by her husbands, John (Jack) Olsen in 1979 and Gary Sisson in 2002; her parents, Syril and Frances; and her two sisters, Sally Jensen and Kay Turner. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A compassionate soul, Gail was a cherished member of the Penn Yan Moose and dedicated her time as a volunteer at Once Again Shoppe. Her love for walking around town was well-known to everyone – she always preferred walking over accepting a ride, no matter how insistent you were! Gail had a soft spot for cats and cared for them affectionately, giving each one the endearing name 'Baby.'
Family meant everything to Gail. She raised five children who meant the world to her: Kimberly (George) Snyder, Jamie (Ginny) Sisson, Lynn Sisson, Brenda (David) Gilbert, and Judy Sisson (Edward Hicks), all residing in Penn Yan. Her legacy lives on through her eleven grandchildren, Jennifer Orr, Sloane, and Miles Snyder; Melissa, Sarah, Jaimee, and Haylee Gilbert; Zacharie (Mollie), Keagen, and Sawyer Hicks; and Zachary Sisson, and seven great-grandchildren Zaya Hicks, Liam and Emilia Ames; Payton, Faith, and Spenser Sisson; Edgar Taggart.
Gail's kindness, fiery personality, and love for her family will forever be remembered. She has left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
