Fred Leonard Hall passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2025 after a short illness with his family by his side.
Fred was born December 4, 1933 in Penn Yan to Joel Willard and Louise (Cowell) Hall. He was a 1953 graduate of Penn Yan Academy. Fred enlisted in the US Air Force in May of 1956 and was honorably discharged in January of 1960. He then remained in the Reserves until 1962. Fred married Joyce Hungerford on July 20,1963 in Penn Yan, NY.
Fred enjoyed his career as an electronic technician. After retiring from Kodak, Fred continued working part-time jobs to keep himself busy. Fred participated in many activities throughout his lifetime. He was a gardener, hunter, bowler, and card game player. Fred was also an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy novels, and gun magazines. He took great pride in his farming days.
Fred was an active member of the Second Milo Baptist church for the majority of his adult life. He served as both trustee and deacon throughout his time there. His children have fond memories of their dad requesting the hymn “Joy to the World” to be sung every Christmas at church in honor of his wife, Joy.
He will be remembered as a man who took pride in his family, grew in his faith, had a joke for everything, and never knew a stranger.
Fred leaves behind many family and friends that love him and miss him. He is survived by his children Clint (Mary) Hall of Goldsboro, NC, Shari (John) Schuck of Bergen, NY, and Mark (Valerie) Hall of Huron, OH; his grandchildren, Elora (Dylan) Sparks, Kyra Hall, Alexandria Schuck, Brandon Schuck, Autumn Hall, and Gage Hall; and many nieces and nephews. He was the last living member of his siblings and their spouses, leaving a legacy for that Hall generation.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 3rd at Second Milo Baptist Church, CR 30 Penn Yan at 1pm. Memorial donations can be made to the Church. The Weldon Funeral Home of Penn Yan is assisting the family.
