Ernest E. Pinneo passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 3, 2021 surrounded by family at Keuka Comfort Care. Born December 13, 1921, to Augustus and Florence Pinneo, Ernest just celebrated his 99th birthday at home with his family. Ernest worked his entire life as a vineyardist, first in partnership with his father and later with his two oldest sons. He was still working in his vineyard as recently as November 2020. Over his lifetime he played Slow Pitch softball, bowled in several leagues, and loved to play golf in retirement, and loved to play cards. He was a lifetime member of Farm Bureau, an active member of Yates County Extension Cooperative, served on the Taylor's Wine Growers Advisory Board, and served on Yates County Soil and Water Board as either President or Vice President for 18 years. He was a member of the Oddfellows Lodge, a lifetime member of the Bluff Point Methodist church, and delivered Meals on Wheels in his 80's. Ernest and his wife traveled extensively with Soil and Water Board, Farm Bureau, and Extensions. He loved his family. He married Ina McDermott, February 14, 1943, and were Married for 52 years. They raised 6 children. Edward (Barbara), Richard (Carol), Robert (Karen), Sally, Tim (Marilyn), and Mary Jo Covert (Tim). He has15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife Ina and 2 grandsons. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will have a Celebration of his life later in the spring or summer. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to Keuka Comfort Care, Wine Grape Growers, or Pinneo/Collins scholarship fund at the Bluff Point Methodist Church.
