Charles M. Watkins,Jr.

87, of Penn Yan, NY died peacefully on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at The Keuka Comfort Care Home.

Charles is predeceased by his wife, Mary T. Watkins. Charles is survived by his sons, Robert of Penfield, and Thomas (Tinker) of Coral Springs, Florida; grandchildren, Colton and Ciara; his sister Sylvia Passmore; niece Arlene DeVinney and her family; and many friends.

Charles was born on August 5, 1933, in Penn Yan, the son of Charles Sr., and Mildred Watkins. He was a 1951 graduate of Penn Yan Academy, having been a participant in various sports. He was an army veteran, serving two years in Germany. Upon his return to Penn Yan he became employed by NYSEG, and remained so until retirement.

Charles was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Penn Yan, having served as a deacon for many years. He also attended the Dundee Baptist Church.

He volunteered at The Once Again Shoppe, along with his wife, Mary.

Friends may call from 10:00am to 12 noon, on Friday, March 26, at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 East Main Street, Penn Yan, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 12pm. Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers of the Keuka Comfort Care Home. The love, compassion, and palliative care extended to Charles was outstanding.
