Charles L. Frost

Age 80, of Dundee, NY, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home, just a day before his birthday.

Charlie was born in Wellsboro, PA, on March 31, 1944, the son of Warren “Jack” Frost and Mary (Weiskopff) Frost. After school at Penn Yan Academy, Charlie proudly served in the US Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966, attaining the rank of Corporal. He also served 1975-1976 in the Air National Guard, as a staff sergeant.

In his earlier years, Charlie worked as a mason, skilled in both bricklaying and cement finishing, always taking immense pride in his craft. He retired as a maintenance mechanic with Elderlee, Inc. After his retirement, he continued to show great pride in his work with the careful attention to his yard and maintenance around their home.

Charlie was predeceased by his brother Donald Raynak.  He is survived by his loving wife of 38 ½ years, Dorene Frost; sons, Sterling McCormick and John (Jamie) McCormick; daughters, Nicole Johnston-Smith (Mike Smith), Terese (Cliff) Earl, Colleen (Shane) Hanrahan, and Kaylee (Eric) Kirkham; sister Jacelyn (David) Kozlowski; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

A lifelong communicant of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Penn Yan, Charlie was actively involved in various church committees alongside his wife. He was also a member of the local American Legion and VFW.

The family will receive friends at the Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main St., Penn Yan, on Friday (April 4th) from 5pm-7pm; and Saturday (April 5th) from 11am-12pm; followed by a funeral service at 12:00pm at the funeral home; The Rev. Leo Reinhart officiating; burial with military honors will follow at City Hill Cemetery.

Charlie will be deeply missed, but his love and commitment to family and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Ontario-Yates Hospice, American Cancer Society or Tunnel to Towers.
