Charles “Chas” Eugene Christensen 

Age 89, of Penn Yan, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 7, 2024. Charles was born March 27, 1935. He was the son of the late George Hiram and Viola (Kjar) Christensen.

 Charles was a 1952 graduate of Penn Yan Academy. He was a lifelong farmer and spent 50 years in the dairy business. He was the proud owner of Chasfarm Holsteins. Charles was a 60 year member of the NYS Holstein Association and served as the secretary-treasurer for several years. Charles was a 50 year member of the Farm Bureau. He served as secretary-treasurer for the Dairylea Local Milk Cooperative. He also served as a councilman for St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Charles enlisted in the Army and served from 1957 to 1959. He was deployed to Korea for 13 months. On July 25, 1964, he married Geraldine Margaret Lootens and raised a family of six children on the family farm. They were married for 57 years.

 In retirement, Charles and Geraldine had 20 years together living close to their family farm. He enjoyed mowing his lawn with his Farmall Super A and driving the Mennonites all over the area. He was an avid fan of the LA Dodgers, Buffalo Bills and Hank Williams Sr.

 Charles is survived by his children, Douglas (Tina Snyder) Christensen, Diane (Mark) McIntee, Dale (Roxanne) Christensen, Mark (Susan) Christensen; step-children Ritchie (Mary Laursen) Lent and Debbie Lent; 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Siblings, Helen (Ed) Dickson, Pauline Carroll, David Christensen, and Donald (Phyllis) Christensen; brother-in-laws, Robert (Cindy Dey) Lootens and Richard (Sharon) Lootens, as well as several nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by his parents, and his wife Geraldine in 2021.

 Family and friends are invited to calling hours at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main St. Penn Yan on Thursday November 14th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral services will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Friday November 15th at 11am followed by burial services at the Lakeview Cemetery. There will be a reception at St Paul’s Lutheran Church following the services. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Charles, to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Penn Yan, the Keuka Comfort Care Home in Penn Yan or to a charity of one’s choice.
