Arlene J Stalcoskie

Our Beloved Mother, Arlene J Stalcoskie, passed away on January 26, 2020 at the age of 94 in Penn Yan, NY. Arlene had a marvelous sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She loved Christmas, puzzles, Bingo, baking, and even slot machines. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Arlene was born on December 22, 1925 in Utica, NY to Ada Hook Schiffer and Edward Schiffer. After moving to Rochester, NY she married Phillip Serio, a World War II veteran, and had 3 children. In 1977, Arlene married George Stalcoskie, also a World War II veteran, and moved to the Poconos, where she lived until George’s death in 2001. Arlene and George were both active members of the local VFW. After over 20 years of service, Arlene retired from Eastman Kodak at the age of 58. Becoming restless in retirement, she started a cleaning business called the Mop and Pail, which she ran into her late 70’s. In 2004 Arlene moved to Penn Yan to be near her son James, and his wife Merry. There she became a dear friend of Robert Vandenberg, a WW II veteran, until his death in 2015. Arlene is predeceased by her husband, George Stalcoskie, former husband, Phillip Serio, her daughter, Elaine Lofink, her parents, her sister, Helen Strickland and her brother Charles Schiffer. Arlene is survived by her son James (Merry) Serio, son-in-law, Robert (Susan) Stalcoskie, her daughter Phyllis (John) Williams, several nieces, nephews,  grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E Main St, Penn Yan, NY 14527 from 3:00-5:00pm.
