Anne Emerson

October 10, 1945 — June 6, 2024

Corinne (Anne) Emerson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished educator, passed away on June 6, 2024, in Penn Yan.

She was born on October 10, 1945, in Canandaigua to Merritt Tabor and Juanita (Pike) Bailey. Anne took pride in her early upbringing on Turner Road in Canandaigua. She was named after her grandmother, Corinne Tabor Bailey, who, along with her grandfather, Merritt Perrin, shared their home with Anne. Anne dedicated her life to the field of education, starting her journey at Penn Yan Central School District in 1976 as a Kindergarten teacher and transitioned to become a beloved 5th-grade teacher until the end of her career, retiring in 2002.

Anne's passion for learning led her to pursue higher education, graduating from Middlesex Valley Central School in 1963. She continued her academic pursuits at Alfred State College graduating in 1966, specializing in Secretarial Science. She began her professional career as a bank teller in Rushville and Penn Yan. Her thirst for knowledge led her to Keuka College, where she obtained a degree in Education in 1973. Anne's commitment to academic excellence didn't stop there; she went on to earn a master's degree in Education from Elmira College in 1978.

Known for her kind and welcoming demeanor, Anne touched the lives of many with her warm heart and open arms. Her students remember her as a pillar of support and encouragement throughout their formative years. Anne's proudest accomplishments were not only found in the classroom but also within her loving family. She took immense pride in their achievements and shared unwavering love and support for each one.

Anne is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Paul Emerson; her children; Michael (Joanne) Emerson, Stacey (Tom) Barden, her grandchildren; Grant (Emily), Noah, and Reid Emerson; Tommy and Corinne Barden; her sister Melanie Clark; brother Kevin (Jill) Bailey; her In laws Anne Allen, Art Emerson, Roger (Carol) Emerson.
